Value of Youth Voter Education (Conference Call Back - Highly Rated 2024 Conference Session)

Wednesday, September 25, 2024 (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Before the General Election on November 8, 2024, districts and schools have two opportunities to engage future voters. High School Voter Education Weeks, recognized during the last two weeks of April and September, is an opportunity to increase youth voter participation in your county and inspire the next generation of change-makers. This session will take you through the planning of a two-week campaign that will help get experts on school sites to educate students on the value of voting and pre-register eligible youth aged 16+. Session attendees will learn how to partner with their county Registrar of Voters, how to recruit community partners as volunteers, how to increase student engagement during the presentations, and how to determine valuable data to collect. We’ll also review the goals used to set a baseline for data collection and discuss tactics used to carry out the campaign including the use of Google surveys, creative ways to compile swag, and a template for HS voter presentations. Whether you are a large school district in a busy city, a county office in a rural area, or a partner agency, this campaign overview will provide helpful tips for reaching the next generation of voters.
