Vanessa Wedderburn is a seasoned communications strategist with a passion for authentic, community-centered storytelling. Since 2019, she has served in communications roles across the nonprofit, government, and private sectors — most recently transitioning to consulting, where she supports districts across the country in strengthening their communications strategies.

Based in Sonoma County, California, Vanessa has led communications through some of the most challenging crises a district can face, including wildfires, floods, widespread power outages, and the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, she managed national media attention and community outreach following a tragic on-campus student fatality — an experience that deepened her commitment to transparent, compassionate communication in times of crisis.

Vanessa’s work is grounded in empathy, equity, and a belief that strong communication builds trust. She was named a CALSPRA Rising Star in 2023 and received a 2024 NSPRA Award of Merit for Website Excellence.
