Welcome to New Regional Leaders!

We are excited to announce new leadership for two of our CalSPRA regions! Please join us in welcoming a new Regional Chair for Northern California and a new Chair and Assistant Chair for the Inland Empire/Orange County region. These dedicated professionals bring a wealth of experience, fresh perspectives, and a strong commitment to supporting our members. 

Inland Empire/Orange County Regional Chair: Angel J. Mead   

Angel J. Mead is the District and Community Relations Coordinator for the Banning Unified School District. He's a seasoned communications professional with a diverse background, having worked in public relations for the private sector, government, non-profits, and K-12 education. Angel's career includes experience at the Riverside County Office of Education and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, providing him with a unique, well-rounded perspective on strategic communication.

A Note from Angel: "I’m honored to contribute and collaborate from the district perspective. I truly believe in the power of collective impact and know that together we can achieve more. I’ve built strong relationships with many talented PR professionals across the Inland Empire—and it’s an honor to serve and lead among them."


Northern California Regional Chair: Dan Dougherty   

Dan Dougherty is the Communications Officer for Ukiah Unified School District. A longtime storyteller and strategist, he has over two decades of experience in public education, advertising, and public relations. Dan is a strong advocate for clear, compelling communication that builds trust and strengthens school communities. His work is a thoughtful blend of design thinking, real-world savvy, and heart.

This is a chance to connect, collaborate, and grow together—because when we tell our stories well, we make a real difference for students, families, and the broader perception of public education."


Inland Empire/Orange County Assistant Regional Chair: Daniel Langhorne   

Daniel Langhorne, the Associate Director of Communications at Sage Hill School, is the new Assistant Regional Chair for the Inland Empire/Orange County region. With over 12 years of experience as a reporter and editor for publications like the Los Angeles Times and The Christian Science Monitor, Daniel brings a sharp, journalistic perspective to his role.

A Note from Daniel: "School communicators are among the most dedicated, creative, and passionate professionals out there. After attending the past two conferences, I'm excited to give back to this community that does so much to support students and educators."
